The role of a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) involves executing clinical support tasks under the direct supervision of the Office Nurse or Physician.
This job description is not exhaustive; the CMA may be tasked with additional responsibilities as directed by their supervisor.
Professionalism is paramount, requiring CMAs to maintain a polished appearance and exhibit behaviors that reflect the office's professional standards. Essential personal attributes include cleanliness, organization, composure in stressful situations, a compassionate demeanor, and a genuine enjoyment of patient interactions. Given the patient care focus, emotional stability is also crucial.
Confidentiality is a must regarding all aspects of the practice, including sensitive information concerning employees and patients.
Key responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
- Performing phlebotomy, administering injections, conducting child immunizations, and executing lab tests and other procedures pertinent to the scope of CMAs.
- Supporting physicians during examinations by obtaining vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Ensuring examination rooms are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Managing patient phone communications as directed by the physician.
- Providing patient education as instructed by the physician.
- Requisitioning medical supplies to maintain sufficient inventory levels.
- Assisting with the upkeep of medical records, completing referral forms, lab slips, and documenting other essential information as requested by the physician.
- Aiding patients in navigating the clinic, preparing for exams, and during various procedures as required. - Collaborating on nursing procedures as assigned by the physician.
- Supporting other operational areas as requested by management or the Clinical Coordinator within the boundaries of CMA certification.
Teamwork and flexibility are critical components of this position.
**Qualifications:**
- Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant curriculum or specialized training (minimum of 2 years)
- Required. - At least 3 years of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical environment

- Required. - BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification - Required.
**Certification Standards:**
