Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Community Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for building strong relationships between EPS and the community it serves. This role recruits, trains, and manages volunteers while coordinating outreach initiatives that increase community engagement, program participation, and public awareness of EPS’s mission.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach
• Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage community members, partner organizations, and local stakeholders
• Represent EPS at community events, meetings, workshops, and public forums
• Build and maintain partnerships with schools, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and local agencies
• Promote EPS programs, services, and events through outreach activities and presentations
Volunteer Coordination
• Recruit, screen, onboard, and train volunteers to support EPS programs and events
• Maintain an active volunteer database, including scheduling, communication, and tracking volunteer hours
• Match volunteers with appropriate roles based on skills, interests, and organizational needs
• Provide ongoing support, supervision, and recognition to volunteers
• Ensure volunteers comply with EPS policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Program & Event Support
• Coordinate volunteers for community events, outreach campaigns, and special projects
• Assist with planning and executing outreach events, workshops, and volunteer activities
• Collaborate with EPS staff to identify volunteer needs and support program goals
• Serve as a key member of the EPS GLOW and BFL planning committees
• Manage processes for executing EPS Baby Bottles and EPS Roses for Life fundraising campaigns, in partnership with the EPS Auxiliary
• Attend monthly EPS Auxiliary meetings
Communication & Reporting
• Communicate regularly with volunteers via email, phone, and social media
• Assist with outreach materials such as flyers, newsletters, and social media content
• Track outreach efforts and volunteer engagement and prepare basic reports as needed
Education and Experience Qualifications
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred)
• Experience in community outreach and volunteer coordination, for a non-profit
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse communities
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
Preferred
• Experience working with volunteers in a nonprofit or community-based organization
• Bilingual
• Familiarity with volunteer management software or databases
• Event planning or community organizing experience
Working Conditions
• Will require some evening or weekend hours for events and outreach activities
• Some local travel within the community may be required
