The City of York is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and organized individual to join our Parks and Recreation Department as a Recreation Coordinator. In this full-time role, you will coordinate, implement, supervise, teach, and evaluate a variety of youth programs, adult leagues, special events, and aquatic activities at both indoor and outdoor facilities. You will work directly under the general supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation to provide engaging recreational opportunities to the community.Key Responsibilities :
Coordinate and oversee the scheduling, development, and implementation of youth programs, adult leagues, and special events.
Supervise the management of both indoor and outdoor pools, including overseeing aquatic programs.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate a large seasonal staff, including pool managers, lifeguards, admissions staff, sports officials, and program instructors.
Develop and implement lesson plans for aquatic programs and other recreational activities.
Coordinate athletic programs and assist in managing the Community Center, Family Aquatic Center, and City Auditorium.
Assist with budget preparation and track program expenditures and revenue.
Promote programs and facilities through community outreach and public relations efforts.
Attend events and activities to ensure smooth operation and community engagement.
Perform other related duties as required, including working evenings, nights, and weekends when necessary.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelors degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, Leisure Services, or a closely related field.
Experience : Three years of experience in a related field, with a focus on youth programming, event coordination, and aquatic management (preferred, but not required).
Certifications : Must possess or be able to obtain within the first three months of employment:
First Aid
CPR/AED
Pool Operator
Lifeguard
Lifeguard Instructor
Additional Requirements :
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
This position requires the employee to be able to respond to the assigned worksite within 30 minutes using the most direct route and within posted speed limits.
