Compensation:

  • Hourly Pay Range: $17.39 - $22.16+ 10% security differential

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This position is a Research Analyst I-III for the Incident Based Reporting unit within the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. This position is responsible for researching and compiling complex statistical data from local law enforcement agencies, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, and other state agencies. This position gathers, analyzes, and creates publications with the data received from our partners. This position also fields many statistical inquiries.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Research, compile, and analyze complex statistical data in order to report crime trends throughout Kansas
  • Make recommendations for improving data quality and data collection process
  • Ensure agencies adhere to reporting standards
  • Interpret and implement state statutes, state regulations, federal public law, and federal code that pertain to the operation of the section.
  • Design and publish reports that accurately reflect the mission of the Incident Based Reporting System by compiling data received from submitting agencies as a participating state in the National Incident Based Reporting System
  • Respond to requests for data in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in collecting, evaluating, studying or reporting on statistical, economic, fiscal/budget, legislative, or administrative data. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access and publication software. Formal education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with either Kansas Incident Based Reporting or National Incident Based Reporting is preferred.
