Summary

****Maine Health Cancer Care is seeking a dedicated Prior Authorization Specialist to join our patient-centered team. This opportunity allows the Prior Authorization Specialist to join a highly collaborative, patient-centered, and fun group. The selected candidate must be available to train on site in Southern Maine. Once onboarded, this will be a hybrid position.

The Prior Authorization Specialist role verifies medication-related insurance eligibility, benefits, verification, prior authorization and researches medication denials to ensure payments are processed on a timely basis.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)


  • Education:
    High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • License/Certifications: N/A
  • Experience: Experience as a medical assistant, pharmacy technician, or prior authorization work in healthcare or related environment required.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A
  • Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Medical Terminology. Knowledge of Medical Insurance and concept of referrals/pre-authorizations.
