Position Summary
Open Road Integrated Media, a fast-growing digital-first publisher and digital marketing company, is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Publishing Operations Assistant to support the VP of Managing Editorial & Publishing Operations and help ensure the smooth execution of publishing workflows across multiple content formats: ebooks, audiobooks, print-on-demand, and metadata.
This role is ideal for a proactive problem solver with an interest in book publishing, digital operations, collaborative teamwork, and workflow innovation. The Publishing Operations Assistant will work closely with internal teams (production, editorial, metadata, marketing) and external partners (online retailers and library and subscription services).
This is an exciting opportunity to learn the foundations of publishing and digital production while contributing to a creative, collaborative, growth-oriented team.
Essential Functions
- Support digital publishing operations, including ebook & audiobook partner accounts (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple, Google, Spotify etc.)
- Assist with scheduling titles across formats (ebooks, audiobooks, print-on-demand)
- Track, update, and distribute metadata, covers, and files to teams and retail partners
- Document and improve production workflows
- Contribute to cross-departmental projects with Production and Metadata teams
Requirements
Must-Have
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (especially email)
- Comfort with spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets), Microsoft Word, and Google Workspace
- Interest in learning and growing within a collaborative, fast-paced publishing environment
- This position will be a hybrid of remote work and limited office attendance (minimum of 1 day a week in the New York City office required)
Nice-to-Have
- Familiarity with databases or content management systems
- Exposure to project management or publishing processes
- Previous publishing or operations experience (internships or 1–2 years)

Compensation Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range for this position will be $42,000.00 - $45,000.00 annually.
